Updated Comment July 5th- As it would turn out, the problem with premium modules refusing to authenticate as of July 1st was caused by editing the host files for Skywing's list. This only applies to the DRM-versions. The non-DRM versions of Kingmaker, ShadowGuard and Witch's Wake that either comes with NWN Diamond Edition, NWN Complete Edition and the Kingmaker bundle CD will continue to work with Skywing's list. In the case of the Kingmaker bundle CD, you need to install them right off the CD and not copy the installers to your hard drive first.
Unfortunately as of July 1st, the download versions of the premium modules no longer work even with changes to the host file and will just hang indefinately at the "Play Demo / Cancel" Screen. You can still play Kingmaker, ShadowGuard and Witch's Wake if you have either the Diamond Edition of NeverWinter Nights or bought the disc with the Kingmaker compilation.In the case of the Kingmaker compilation disc, do not make the mistake of copying the installers to your hard drive then installing them from there as this somehow changes them into functioning like the download versions. (Which is a mistake I made once when my internet was down, only to find that they started demanding an internet connection to verify ownership....ooops!) You absolutely must install them off the disc no matter what at this point.edit - These can still be worth installing just for their hak resources. For example, after poking around with the Infinite Dungeon haks (all of id1_*.hak in their names), I found that I could drop Halaster's Golden Pajamas into a module.Nope! Just booted up Infinite Dungeons Premium, and it seems to be working fine and dandy here...
(Both the load game and start new game features worked, and the delay was about 1 second of verification, and a 3 second wait for the play demo screen to disappear and game to continue loading)
(I'm using skywings nwnx_loader, with the serverlist replacement dll, and no host file changes)
You mustn't change the host file. It doesn't work with that change.
You're right! That turned out to be the cause. I re-edited my host file to just leave the listing for IGN's so dead it may as well be undead nwn vault site.... And there really needs to be an option to give people karma love points on comment posts.
you can only do that in user's profile..
kk -- I send you some karma point love on your profile.
In other words, to play Infinite Dungeons/Pirates of the Sword Coast/Witch's Wake you cannot have your hosts file set up for Skywing's list at the same time, it seems.
Actually Kingmaker, Shadowguard, and Witches-Wake shipped bundled with nwn diamond DVD, and so they shouldn't require Master server authentication the way that way the other premiums do.
Actually this is both true and not true. I have the Platinum edition and the Kingmaker bundle CD. If I copy the installation files to my hard drive and install from there, they act like the DRM download copies and start demanding authentication (which I discovered the hard way when I was without Internet.) If I install them off the CD directly, there's no authentication check....
Although with Windows 8, the installation is a bit wonky and sometimes crashes out unless I first browse the CD to install the 1.66 Patch contained on the disc first. The installer is going to try to do itself and if it crashes, it will either be while trying to get ready to install that patch or while installing it. If I do that first, I can run the autorun and the modules will install just fine.
*Casts Dispel Confusion*
You DO NOT have to modify your hosts file AT ALL unless you are hosting a server you want to update status to skywing's master server list.
Clients DO NOT require ANY host changes to play online or premiums, they just need skywings client extender or loader, plus the gamespy dll repacement.
[+100 Karma to skywing just for being awesome]
Reverted the project back to it's previous state.
Dunno, why these two fixes:
are listed as "Required", and not: "Related" - Projects? Played without them recently (my PC was a fighter; Godfroy Cormas and Jonas - and Edgar Truesilver replacing him later - were my henchmen, most of the time) and have absolutely no problem with anything, except that cutscene, where the Weapon ("Weapon of the True Knight") is forged (got constant freeze) - but that is caused by Henchman Inventory & Battle AI mod v1.08 (and nw_c2_default3.ncs in particular; the remedy for it is saving the game before that cutscene and removing this file from the override folder - temporarily).
...And btw... The links to cool wallpapers for two of the BioWare Premium Modules:
1600x1200 (pixels) - Infinite Dungeons / Wyvern Crown of Cormyr;
1280x1024 - Infinite Dungeons / Wyvern Crown of Cormyr.
It is written explicitly they are recommended. They fix bugs like horse hat/head after Wyvern if you play with PC in another module.
If it offends you I will change that. :)
I see. I haven't read closely enough, it seems. ;)
Didn't try this PC in another module yet, but good to know that some problems with heads/hats might be experienced then.
Nope, I'm definitely not offended, my friend. But "related and recommended" not exactly equal to: "required", thus listing these two Fixes as "Related projects" instead "Required projects" is the right move in my opinion - and thanks for fixing this. :)
Hmmm, I must confess also, that the theme of these two Fixes to Wyvern Crown of Cormyr, was merely an excuse for the rest of my post: a possible game-stopping issue with Henchman Inventory & Battle AI mod v1.08 (as well as a work-around to it), and the links to the related, official, wallpapers. :D
I've found a few official wallpapers (1280x960) more:
Pirates of the Sword Coast, Kingmaker, Witch's Wake.
Added as pictures here.
Shame that access to the site they are hosted at is forbidden :C
Yes, shame indeed - that these sites (nwdownloads.bioware.com and lvlt.bioware.cdn.ea.com/bioware/u/f/eagames/bioware/neverwinternights/) are not searchable... One must know the exact address to gain his access to any resource.
Since I have a general aversion towards henchmen and won't use them at all ever unless absolutely forced to, I've never checked out the Henchman Inventory & Battle AI Mod. If it is creating an issue with WCOC, I'll check it out later when I have some time to see if I can reproduce any issues then see what I can do to create compatibility with it... which may or may not be possible.
I also agree with the patch being optional/recommended as the bulk of the issues involving WCOC and the 1.69 patch are due to either taking characters created in other modules into this one or taking WCOC created characters into other modules. The first of these seems very reasonable considering WCOC's initial premise of you being an adventurer that came back home after reaching level seven to help out at the family farm.
Henchmen AI mods tend to break a lot of modules. As an example Tony K made neutral NPC boars hostile to my PC.. don't remember the name of the module, but I do remember I was supposed to escort the piggy back to its owner instead of killing it. Removing Tony K stops the hostility.
Just curious- since these are uploaded here does that mean they are now free to play mods or do we still need a key code for them?
I heard authentication server is down. Those are actually from Bioware's site
It looks like these mods are now re-classified as freeware/abandonware.
I'm not sure if the authentication server is down or not, but I know that the authentication is automatically passed now, no matter if you ever paid for the given module or not, and no matter if you use any third party solutions with your NWN (like those I mentioned there) or not, so you can play these mods freely.
This is true and confirmed for the Wyvern Crown of Cormyr at least (I checked this in September and now once again - just a minute ago), and probably is true for others as well.
And here are the direct download (BioWare/EA) links for these modules:
Wyvern Crown of Cormyr: Link 1 (7993), Link 2 (7993) - 223.4 MB;
Pirates of the Sword Coast: Link 1 (6309), Link 2 (6309), Link 3 (6309) - 43.0 MB;
Infinite Dungeons: Link 1 (8437), Link 2 (8437) - 167.8 MB;
Kingmaker: Link 1 (3993), Link 2 (3993), Link 3 (3993) - 73.8 MB;
Shadow's Guard + Witch's Wake: Link 1 (4077), Link 2 (4077), Link 3 (4077) - 101.8 MB.
Edit: I've just checked Pirates of the Sword Coast - I can play it with no trouble. Pity that I haven't got too much free time this week. ;)
Thanks to you both. One further question for clarification, does that mean I can play them via lan with another player who has not purchased them?
Well, I think: yes. But since the best way to know it for sure is simply: just go and try, I advise you to do so. ;)
And please report here the result - certainly it would be good to know. :)
We're going to try Pirates of the Coast via lan tonite. Will report how it works here :)
Pirates of the Sword Coast, multiplayer via lan working like a charm. Just started and gotta say I love the heck out of this mod already.
Pirates of the Sword Coast was a good but very short mod! The storytelling was fantastic and the mod felt very exciting. The treasure hunt and puzzles were challenging and fun. The disappointing part was the ending. It was unsatisfyingly anti-climactic. Unfortunately, this mod also has zero replay value. Once you've done it, you've done it. I'd vote 8/10.
There are several endings depending if you help (romance?) the priestess or not.
Haven't tried recently, but a few months ago I tried to use the excecutable for "Infinite Dungeons" and it was saying my NWN folder wasn't found.
I have it on my C:\ drive like I have always had, but for some reason it just wouldn't excecute/install. Did I have to own the module previously for it to work (i.e. already have a folder for it?)
Might be the install path is wrong. What OS and what version of NWN you have (disc or digital?)
It's more like the path is not in registry as that C:\ path is usually recommended.

You can also try running the installer with escalated privileges (administrator etc.) or/and from the game's folder.
Would there be any objections to me posting a Python script I made to generate dat files for these modules?
You never know when they could just decide to shut down the master server. Then these modules would be unplayable, unless you have the correct dat files in your premium folder.
I've recently worked out the crypto on them(the dat files are encrypted with a key that's generated from your CD key) and worked out their file format(it's very simple). But my script has encryption keys for the premium modules in it that are needed to create the dats, so that's why I'm asking if people would be OK with it being posted.
Just make sure to use the right licence: i.e. requiring the use of original modules ;)
Premiums are accessible from bioware site, but they never said it is abandonware so we should be careful ;)
Ok, decided to remove the crypto keys from the script. I've modified it to grab them from the master server. So, this script will work for as long as the master server is up and freely allowing anyone to authenticate. Using the info inside the script, it should be trivial to extract the keys from the dats. There's info in the script on how the keys are used to decrypt the HAK files for the modules.
Requires Python 2.7.x and PyCrypto:
http://pastebin.com/haPQKwBT
Only use this script to generate dats for modules that you have purchased.
And which version of PyCrypto would be sufficient for that: 2.1, 2.3 or 2.6 (these versions are available for Python 2.7 on voidspace.org.uk/python)?
Or maybe it doesn't matter?
I used PyCrypto 2.6. I don't know if it would work with the older versions.
Any instructions on how to use this?, I want to use this since the Premium Modules i own cease to function after i change hosts to use Skywing's masterlist.
Python 2.7.9 and Pycrypto 2.6.0 are installed but the script you provided instantly closes after activation.
I hope sbJFn5r doesn't mind, I made a window application based on his script, to make generating DAT files easier. And it doesn't require connection to BioWare server, so it'll work even after BW decides to shut it down completely. So, if you still want it, here is the link: https://mega.nz/#!KsdxiBYI!yf-bQSEgyCCyo_NQ5Q8Gwj3stHDOUbN_PzEUZsjoHT0
I have been playing the premium mods on my laptops. It was no problem I just had to wait a few seconds for it authorize me to play. But just now found out I am unable to play the mods. It wont authorize and let me play. This is on both of my laptops. Does anyone know why I am unale to play the premium mods now? Until today I had no problems.
The answer: http://neverwintervault.org/forums/neverwinter-nights-1/nwn1-modules/bio...
Some of these modules were good; others not.
FYI - I fixed the link to the unofficial Wyvern Crown of Cormyr patch due to having accidently broken it... ooops.
I installed Pirates of the Sword Coast... and it does not go through authentication, although I have a GOG version of NWN. What a crap :(
[EDIT] After tiresome search I found Premium Module Offline Authenticator Generator that solved the problem with its "dat" file.
Just played king maker and voted. https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/kingmaker-bioware-premi... Great mod!
Just finished Shadowguard and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed by the end. It just stopped cold. No good reason to end there, no real conclusion, it just stopped. I feel like it was unfinished. There should have been more to it. Otherwise a good story with proper balance. Went from level 1-5. I got enough xp at the last battle to level up, but the mod ended before I could take my level. 6/10 better than most mods, but ultimately lacking.
I just finished Wyvern Crown of Cormyr and I thought it was fantastic. The jousting part was not my cuppa, but the rest was excellent. The mod was balanced quite well and I never felt it was too much of a challenge. I went from level 1 to 12 as a cleric. I did not get to finish all the quests, but I was quite satisfied. I like that there was a bit of resolution at the end, but I would have preferred to go back to town and sell some items, and if possible kill that annoying dragon. All in all, the best of the premium mods so far. 8/10
For whatever reason installers will not accept even seem to make the effort to find and install these modules to my gog copy of the game. I would appreciate it if files hidden within installers would be uploaded maybe in a zipped folder rather than deal with non complaint installers. if someone would please release files in easy to access format i all ready have .dat files which bypass verification if i can find files in such a format i am ready to make use of them. Thx guys!!!!
As Rahanzie stated,
FILES WON'T FUNCTION because "authorization" has been withheld!
Since/If they released these for USE, and they know they have Restrictions for Authorization on each of them, then why couldn't they think that thru, and provide the modules without withholding their actual USE?
Does this logic escape Bioware decision-makers?
Is there any way to play these mods?
Is there any way for someone WITH the mods (Infinite Dungeons, Pirates..., Cormyr..., I have purchased all the others) to upload just the modules into a format that Vault users can in fact download for Use?
These DL above Installed from their resident DL-able installers just fine. They simply won't PASS AUTHORIZATION CODES, for they weren't provided...
*Infinite Thanks* to any and all who can provide help in these matters. It's consternating to HAVE the programs/modules resident on my machine, but simultaneously be withheld from using/enjoying them. Argh.
I just found this:
https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/other/tool/premium-module-offl...
for people who bought the mods but are having trouble authenticating them.
In fact, when i try to launch one it freezes to autentication page and that's it.
Anyway, there's a way to open the haks? When i try with nwhak it gives me error. Not that i care really about what's actually inside those haks, but for sure there will be an edit to appearance.2da, which i will need to re-edit myself for add *my* models.
As I understand it, the premium hak content is inaccessible, though there was talk of Beamdog unlocking it in a future release of EE.
