I could only wish this series was continued.
Description should mention to play a male character.
Pretty good hack and slash. I don't know what this builder has against doors as the means for area transitions, but everything worked. Liked the story hook, though I like happier endings. Worth playing.
I really liked this mod, especially the henchman interface. I did not like the sometimes weird transitions. I am now stuck in the Temple at the Question door. I answered the riddle correctly, the door opened, but there is an invisible Door thingy that sits there blocking the way, and you cannot move it or kill it! So I have tried to go around it, found the area with the Sacrifices, but no wife. Then I enterd the Labyrinth, but nothing is really there to move things along, and there is no way out it seems. I went back and got through the Riddle Door on replay, and there was an interesting area but not critical to the module end. I did find the lair of the Drow witch and that was indeed the end. Do not forget to explore the Swamp area that is north of the village. Lots of interesting monsters and areas there! A bit too obtuse I think, and the Riddle Door guardian can be a real pain! I wish there was a way to affect the final outcome but it doesn't appear to be the case. I am not sure why there are all the corpses to pick up, but I was able to bury one or two in the village.
Underrated low-level hack & slash, actually completable by any class despite the name, but there are a lot of hardy locked doors and chests you either have to bash open with a two-hander or unlock it as a Rogue. Numerous traps, but no xp for disabling them.
Story is decent for this genre, it may not be the most unique, but does keep the plot flowing along adequately. Enemy variety is quite refreshing, as apart from using a decent spread of vanilla monsters, there are also many custom enemies, one example being strangleweed. Loot distribution is generous, but you still have to plan your finances to gear up to fight tough enemies, especially those with lots of resistances and damage reduction.
There are some weird quirks about the module:
I wish in this mod was continued. It would be fun to see where the story leads since it implies an impending evil alignment shift.
Okay, it was an interesting story. For the most part, I agree with our friend BowShatter who wrote above. I would like to emphasize that if you do not return the body of the lost child to Rayek first, then the main mission will be blown up. Before you explore more, return the damn corpse first! Don't do your own things - like me - just follow the flow of the mission and explore when the time comes. Otherwise a very nice adventure.
**What exactly must do about the crones shacks?
***So how about the sequel "Blood of the Underdarck"? Any news?
