Original Entry: D&D Classic Elementals
Have you been playing NWN for 8 years and wondering where the elementals from your D&D games went?
They've been found!
Well, they've been created. :)
This package overrides the appearances BioWare's basic air, earth, fire, and water elementals with ones that look much more like how I imagine elementals should appear.
Air: Working off BigfootNZ's superb Air Grue, I removed the debris, removed the third eye, changed the eye color, and lightened the smoke color to look more like light fog. No longer looks like some sort of genie.
Earth: This fellow lost the "hot" emitters, gained a brand new skinmesh of earth (dirt), and picked up a few small extra rocks and some glowing green eyes. He's much more solid now, instead of a pile of levitating rocks.
Fire: An alteration of the air elemental, this one glows bright orange, with red eyes. I also removed the "whirlwind" run/walk animation. Gone is the pot-bellied magma guy.
Water: No longer some sort jet-powered genie, this elemental is a living wave, with glowing blue eyes and a larger wave-shaped skinmeshed body. He likes to splash water around when crushing his enemies.
Two download options available: override and hak.

Hey TAD if you want, I uploaded my NWN1 work to the new vault so if you want your description link about by Grue pointing to them here rather than the ones on the old vault you can :P
Thanks! I'll do that.
Thank you very much for creating this! I've always hated the look of NWN's default elementals, and these are spot on for how I think an elemental should look - some genderless mass of substance that is magically alive and sentient. My favorite thing about them is the way the water elemental splashes water about when I walk through it.... now all that is needed is NPCs that get upset and ask you to leave (or just toss you out) because your water elemental is getting the carpets soggy!
I ended up overriding the elder elemental models also (via the override folder) and for anyone else wishing to do this, here's their file names: c_aireld.mdl c_eartheld.mdl c_fireeld.mdl c_watereld.mdl
Whenever I think of D&D monsters, I always remember the pictures by Dave Trampier and Dave Sutherland in the 1st Edition AD&D Monster Manual (first published in 1977). These elementals come so close to those classic ones that I use them not only in my modules but also as a patch-hak (override).
I am wondering if anyone with CC knowlegde would be able to update the Earth Elemental in this package so that its selection box is not enormous? If you simply place one of the earth elementals in the toolset, you can see the selection box is easily 4+ times the size of the actual creature.
So while in the toolset it's not that big of a deal, but when used in-game, this unfortunately translates to making it impossible to click on anything else near the Earth Elemental. Especially in combat where there are other creatures nearby it that a PC might want to target, they always end up targetting the elemental since its selection box is ginormous and overlaps other nearby creatures. I use these elemental models in my module and really love them, but I've had a number of players complain about this behavior with the Earth Elemental, and I don't have the CC skills to fix it.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.
Can't play without them anymore. Summoning an actual being of raw fire instead of some wannabe Ignus...
