I AM THE GOD OF HELL FIRE AND I BRING YOU... WATER! Oh, no, damn, no, FIRE, damn... sorry.
PLUSH HYENA of DOOM is back... The Rubbish Tilesets are back... The stylish girls are back... but most of all, the Farcical ReadMe Files of Unutterable Stupidity ARE BACK!
Fifi has relented and let me out of the strong box and so I here present the Fourth in the Tartarus series of Metal Tilesets... It is also the final one, at least for the time being.
No, please don't all commit seppuku at once... oh, you weren't going to? Right... Good... Fine.
The Grotty Metal Vault is basically a reskin of the BioWare Castle Interior with assorted custom tiles added in. (Credit to Tiggs for doing that, I've just been hitting textures with a big stick as usual. Credit to Stacy and Goudea for the basis of said textures).
There are two 'basic' interiors to be found within the Tileset, as the screenshots should indicate. The 'jail' and 'storage' terrains along with the corridors lean very much toward the murky, run-down, functional look - think of the Nostromo interiors in ALIEN - and I use these in the Tartarus Modules a lot. The 'stone' and 'rich' terrains I tend to use in my KotOR Modules and they have a cleaner, more efficient air to them. The 'library' terrain is somewhere between the two.
As with the original Castle Interior, this has those candelabra things lurking by pillars but there are also 'empty' tile options so that you can remove their anachronistic presence from your spacecraft, futuristic bunkers, etc. However, they should not be wholly dismissed. They look very nice in a 'technology fallen to barbarism' setting. Anyway, you've got both options.
I have adapted the books in the library (as well as the models allow) to become computer consoles. Admittedly they are vaguely book-shaped computer consoles but... well, it was worth a try.
Removing the library books and shelving entirely (by means of the 'empty' tiles) can create a very nice hangar bay, cargo hold etc. See screenshot 4.
I changed the water into a strange red slime for no better reason than I felt like it. Apologies to anyone who wanted normal water. Apologies to myself because I wanted green slime (but Ferala wanted red and nobody argues with her). Apologies to Fifi because she wanted purple slime. Apologies to anyone who wants red slime but would have preferred a slightly different shade of red. Apologies to anyone fed up with all these apologies.
Moving quickly on... I now feel the need to write TARDIGRADE in capitals. I have no idea why. Still, interesting little creatures, Tardigrades.
The custom Loadscreens for this Tileset are in the Metal Tileset Loadscreen Pack which is in the Metal Wastelands Tileset. When using this Tileset with the other Metal Tilesets, ensure that the METAL WASTELANDS is HIGHEST on your custom content list as it has not only the spleen-rupturingly exciting Loadscreens but also the Door 2das and stuff.
A note on Windows. This Tileset contains the 'windows' add-on for the castle set. It has a suitable custom texture for the windows but if you have another 'expanded' castle interior in the same Module's custom content list, chances are that it will override these windows and they will adopt the standard texture which doesn't really look right. Castle interiors without the window add-on will, obviously, not affect anything.
See ReadMe for assorted futile details about sundry and diverse not very interesting matters and stuff.
The ReadMe also contains, for that small core of (probably harmless) lunatics gripped with excitment over it, the latest and most spectacularly pointless episode yet in the ongoing not-very-epic FIFTEENTH CHURCH OF THE APOCALYPTIC WALRUS saga.
Also contains full and complete instructions from Professor Humongo Mental on how to genetically engineer gigantic mutant nuclear insects in your own home using only common household materials and an occasional humpback whale.
If there's anything important I've forgotten to say here, I probably said it in the ReadMe. And if I forgot to say it here AND in the ReadMe then it's probably far too late now for there to be any realistic chance of me ever remembering it ever again anyway...
I AM THE GOD OF KILLER WOMBATS AND I BRING YOU... KILLER NUMBATS...
Oh, in the name of Sobek, I can't even keep the same Comedic Antipodean Marsupial in my mind for three seconds... it's pathetic... Right, that's it, I'm just giving up and going away now...
