An add-on set for the Ingame Maps Hak Paks by Morikahn...
Morikahn's excellent Igname Maps Hak Paks allow world maps to be displayed in-game in several different ways.
These ways come in different versions.
This set of maps... is for use with versions 0.1 and 0.3, respectively.
0.1-related maps are 800x600 and will be displayed in-game in place of the Death GUI, while 0.3-related maps are 512x512 and will attach to the in-game Journal Screen. So, what kind of maps are included in this humble package?
The Maps:
Thee are 26 maps in total, featuring each of the following settings...
Arcadia, Britannia, Camelot, Earth, Hyboria, Hyrule, Ilshenar, Ireland, Malas, Middle Earth, Narnia, Nosgoth, Oz, Serpent Isle, Sosaria, The Young Kingdoms, and Tokuno. A varied group!
And... as an added extra bonus... you can download both of the two Hak Paks that this add-on set was designed for right here on this page.
All the maps come in both 800x600 and 512x512 sizes, and are stored neatly in folders, in alphabetical order.
The two Hak Paks will stretch any map placed in them to these sizes anyway, in-game; for that reason, I have made
certain that I resized each map to the appropriate specifications already... so that what you see before adding a map to one of Morikahn's Hak Paks is still the same as how it will look in the game once it has been added to it.
The maps are all tga files, which are required for use by the Hak Paks. Only tga files will work with this system.
How to Install:
Open either of Morikahn's Hak Paks, depending on which one you want to use in your module. Notice the sample maps listed inside of the Hak Pak under the listed file names of "map_01_512x512" and "map_01_800x600". These map files will have "tga" as their file type.
These are the map files that will need to be replaced. Now, "map_02_800x600" is for the second map slot as used by the v0.1 Hak Pak... this, is the main reason why every single 800x600 map comes with a 01 and 02 designation.
v0.1 uses one map for single player Nwn and one map for multiplayer Nwn while v0.3 only uses one map (the one added to your Journal). Do NOT remove the mdl file(s)... or the Hak Pak will not function. Simply replace only the tga-based sample map(s) for the one(s) you wish to use, save the Hak Pak, and you're ready to add it to your module.
For users of v0.3, there is no further work you need to do. But, for users of v0.1, you'll need to see the demo that comes with the Hak Pak for how to best implement the map system that replaces the Death GUI. And that's basically it.
Note: Some of the maps may look better in 512x512... while others look better in 800x600. Choose the size that goes with the Hak Pak that's right for you.
Lastly: remember that the only limit in Nwn... is your own imagination. ;)
Credits: A special Thank You! to the talented Morikahn, whose work made it possible for these maps to actually be used in a game of Neverwinter Nights.
Update: An excellent color map of the Young Kingdoms has been added. Special thanks to Séverine Perillat for having created this color map of the Young Kingdoms: "Le jeune royaumes", and to Goudea, for making this map available for it's inclusion in this package.
Some other additions I added include:
Maps of Earthsea, Prydain, and a nice cloth map of Hyboria. Two more maps of interest include: Wonderland, from the classic tale by Lewis Carroll, and the Dark Wonderland, from the also-classic computer game by American McGee.
And... that concludes the first update for this map pack. Updated: 3/13/2008
