I needed to make some changes to more accurately reflect how human's see in the dark for more realistic gameplay in a module I'm making. My initial module will be dwarf-dentric, so dwarves don't need torches, etc, but in case I get multiplayer working this will shape how people play the module. Human's are, by default, allowed to see exceptionally well in utter darkness because during playtesting players complained about having to deal with not being able to see in the dark. I kinda need that difficulty for storytelling purposes. Also to enhance a human's appreciation for lighting, especially in the Underdark.
This is a work derived from niv's vision override file for "fx_light_clr.mdl", which controls how the different PC races can see in the dark. Thanks a TON for bringing this to my attention, niv! Niv has no restrictions on his file, as it is a simple modification to a default NWN packaged file, and so my hak is also freely modifiable and distributable.
Niv changed Low Light (reddish), Dark Visions (bluish to simulate grayscale), and human. See niv's files here: https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/model/blind-lowlight-darkvisio...
As you can see in the screenshots, my human "blind" vision is much smaller and fainter than the default. This simulates stumbling around in the dark. But you can always grab a torch or use magic...
I have left Low Lght vision unchanged from default, as my elves follow the contemporary PHB, while niv's changes are to simulate infravision.
Dwarves are the same as in niv's version, with the light made slightly bluish to simulate the way darkvision works in black and white.
Note: Light sources near creatures will blind dwarves and elves from this vision, just as it always has, so keep this in mind if you're playing a human in a party of demi-humans...
You can try out these changes the included demo module, there are torches and a helmet with the Darkvision ability so you can try with a human PC. For Low Light vision it is unchanged, and limited to elves and half-elves anyway.

Thanks for posting this! You've inspired me to publish what I have been using for the last two years but didn't bother documenting. Shame on me….
So for an alternate take on what you and Niv have done, I present my interpretation of PnP Vision, Light spells, and torches.
You guys both beat me to it, I was working on one last week, but I wanted to really go through the whole file, instead of just the darkvision/lowlight/blindsight.
Bring it on! I'm thinking of moving to Grymelord's, maybe yours. Rather use something people already have than just add yet another tweaked version to the pool of haks. At the moment i'm designing around mine, since I can always change out the hak later...
