Niche of the Vault, or Assuming the Mantle of Neverwinter Forums

I've been playing a lot of NWN lately, and as I do with any game I play, I conduct extensive research as much as, if not more than I spend time in the game.

My browsing has taken me to several corners of the Web, including the Neverwinter Vault, and I've found the Vault a wonderful repository of useful files and information. As far as I can tell, the Vault aims to host and facilitate the development of user-created Neverwinter Nights content, but with the absence of an About page, I can't tell if the scope ends there.

I ask, because I'm wondering about the aims of this site, whether the Vault aims to appeal to all players of the Neverwinter Nights games, or if things like forum topics outside of custom modules do not belong here. With the closing of the BioWare forums, this question takes added significance for those looking to participate in the knowledge base for these games. If I post a topic regarding my findings playing through the default campaign of Neverwinter Nights, I want to post to as close as I can to the authoritative source of Neverwinter Nights information.

So, my question: Does the Neverwinter Vault want to sit as the authoritative site for everything relating to Neverwinter Nights, or does it want to limit its content to user customization?

it is what you make it.

This site began as the successor to the IGN Vault, which was a file repository. It succeeded admirably.

beyond that ... it is what you make it. While the forums are heavily weighted toward customization, the Vault itself would hold any player-guide(s) you'd care to push

but in my opinion no one's going to gripe if a thread detailing info gleaned during a walkthrough starts ...

As far as I can see, this is now the main fan site for NWN and NWN2. All contributions to any aspects of those games will be more than welcome.

"As far as I can see, this is now the main fan site for NWN and NWN2."

To add to that there is no longer an official site for NWN1 since it was Bioware's game. The bioboards were the official site for nwn2, and Obsidian did put up a forum (it probably inherited official-ness since it's an Obsidian game) when the bioboards went down, but we get more posts here than the Obsidian nwn2 forums.

From everything that I have read on the various forums that DO exist here, I would expect that the real answer is that "YES, Please post whatever you wish regarding NWN and NWN2."

Guides are always welcome, and posts regarding the original content will otherwise get lost in history as the Bioware forums completely disappear.

I would expect at this point that the "Players Corner" is likely where such topics would exist, but if they have spoilers, you would need to mark them as such in the topic title as well, to help protect new players that may still find NWN in the various online sources for it now available... Even if it is an OLD game, there are still people that find it as a NEW game to them and would likely run into issues or wish for clues and tips etc.

However, if you ask specifically with regards to the Admin folks around here, they would likely create a separate set of sub-forums for you to start out in as well.  Depending on the exact plans for the "Players Corner" as usually sites that have specific "Players Corners" are usually using those specific forums for off topic types of posts.  Although, having just re-looked in there, they do appear to be topics covering just about anything regarding NWN 1 in there.  Things for help requests to specific help requests regarding specific locations within the Original Content game as well.

I also think that you are safe posting whatever you wish regarding NWN etc, and if necessary any posts that Admin believes should be moved to a different set of forums could be easily moved as needed so nothing to worry about there.  The admin folks here are very helpful with things like that.
