Storm of Zehir party ideas

This was an amusing thread on the old bioboards.

A party of elven bards. They are a band called the Elvii, or Elvus. laugh

I made a group recently , all human females, same face, skin and hair color, and voice set. I gave them all the most messed up hair styles I could, and I called the group Bad Hair Day. It was funny for about 5 minutes. Giving everyone the same voice set was a mistake!

Likely as not it took more time to make them than get bored with them :)

On my last SOZ playthrough, I used an evil party with "evil classes": assassin, blackguard, stormlord and warlock. It did pretty well except for the last fight, where I wish I had some sort of cleric (my SL was a spirit shaman) and/or wizard (pale master or red wizard would fit the party's theme).

Similar things could be done with other classes or races: holy party (paladin and cleric types), arcane party (bard, wizard, sorcerer, warlock), nature party (druids, shamans, rangers, barbarians), racial stereotypes party (dwarven defender, elf arcane archer, halfling rogue), etc.

Also, zoo party: a group of shapeshifting druids focused on different forms and with different animal companions. It'd be original, at least.

Yes, and that song that plays in character creation is enough to unplug the headphones!

A lot of things in SoZ give better idea for themed party than the original campaign.

These are some of the idea I used in the past:

The Nightstalkers : this party is active only during night time from 18.00 to 4.00

The Bashers : users of bludgeoning weapons (excluding fists)

The Bleeding Blades : based on the use of poisons

The Summoners : basically a party of magic users, but used exclusively Conjurations in combat mode

Other themed idea are making party based of comics/manga. I made ones based of OOTS, OLA, Slayer, and Weregeek.

You could do a familiar party of four, but instead of Fighter/Cleric/Rogue/Wizard you could go Barbarian OR SwashBuckler; Paladin OR Ranger; Bard; Sorcerer OR Warlock. While you would think this couldn't pull its weight, each is equally capable of a teammate, you would get some (LAME) turn undead from Paladin and while you're not healing as well as a true Cleric, either Paladin or Ranger CAN cast healing spells, so can the Bard to make it a little easier. PLUS, the Bard can put that regeneration whistle on that heals everyone on the team in range. HUGE spell saver.

If that don't float your boat, try a mix and match like this (HEAVY combo usage here): a Swash Buckler/Wizard/Eldritch Knight/Duelist (for your Arcane Caster); a Paladin/Favored Soul/Doom Guide OR Divine Champion (to get turn undead AND Cleric spells aplenty); a Rogue/Ranger with 2-weapon fighting (can you Sneak Attack x2 if you dual weild?); and, a Fighter (cuz, why not). These four would TEAR stuff up.

Last one: I go Rogue/Wizard/Arcane Trickster for one character, Paladin (10)/Doom Guide (10)/Divine Champion (10) in no particular order for a battle-ready healer, then go WildShape Druid with Natural Spell (will supplement the so-so healer you have in the Pal/DG/DC), and finally, go Ranger (21)/Monk (9) for some CRAZY 2-wpn stuff. S/He can do like 10 attacks a round wielding twin Kamas that you can upgrade hella easy in SoZ for  different elemental damage. Make one out of Adamantine, the other out of cold iron or alchemical silver. Decent "naked" AC cuz of the Wisdom bump (thank you Monk), and a really nice (if not amazing) BAB/AB. With a Dex build, Weapon Finesse and Weapon Focus Kama, S/He will shred stuff after a few levels.

Lub U ;)

Or cut back to a three member party to increase the challenge level.

That's not a bad idea. By picking a Rogue/Wizard/Arcane Trickster character to lead the party (I like controlling the spell slinger of the team) you BASICALLY get two classes for the price of one. Then you can make a healer and a "fighter" type and that should do it. PLUS, you will level up faster with only 3 iirc. Should be fun, if not a bit hard at the onset.
