Purchased Neverwinter Nights Complete - Big Mistake

I purchased Neverwinter  Complete (NWN 1, all programs, and NW2 all programs) in suitable formats for Windowes OSs beyond XP. It installed the first time about three years ago. I recently had a total meltdown on Windows 10 (don't install it) and I had to send my computer out to get rid of the corrupted files and re-install Windows 7. When I went to reinstall NWN Complete it would not install instead giving some obsure error. This is only the second time I ever used these discs. I went to see if I could re-purchase NWN Complete and the price was higher than the $40 or so I paid orginally, it was $279. I purchased NWN2 Platimun package which is also compatible with Windows 7 for about $42 including tax and shipping. I am now waiting for the software to get to me.

The moral of the story is to watch out for Windows 10 and, while NWN Complete is a good concept, the disc is apparently easily corrupted. Besides the price is now a rip off.

Where did you buy it from? It's $19.99 for NWN2 Complete and $9.99 for NWN1 Diamond on GOG.com. I'm amazed anyone would even attempt to sell NWN for $279, but some Amazon sellers have prices similar to that for older games.

The $279  price was on Amazon. Where can you buy it for $19.99, was that GOG.com?

gog.com doesn't list Neverwinter Complete, but does have Neverwinter Nights Diamond and Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete (not the same thing at all), like Turkeys says. The cost of buying both games is considerably less than you were quoted for Neverwinter Complete.

If re-installation is not an option, it may not be necessary to install it at all. For NWN, at least, if you have a backup of your NWN folder from before Windows 10, you may well find that restoring it, creating a shortcut to nwn.exe as administrator in XP compatibility mode, is all you need to do. Can't comment on NWN2, but it would be worth a try.

gog also gives a discount if you buy both nwn1 and 2, it's currently $25 for both. They have sales pretty regularly that make is $20. You do need to request a multiplayer key from gog, or at least you used to, they may be giving a multiplayer key now by default.

LOL, I'm not even sure NWN is available for Macintosh anymore!

They only did original NWN2 for Mac.  No expansions for us...

There are ways to install the Windows expansions onto a Mac.  The easiest approach I would say is to use a Wineskin and install the actual Windows versions from NWN2 Complete.  That allows you to play the Windows versions, with some limitations, on Mac OS without requiring a Bootcamp partition.  I have several blog posts about how to get NWN2 working on Mac.

So very true. I'm currently replaying NWN2, MotB, SoZ, MoW on my Mac and having a blast.
I recently bought (20€) the NWN2 Complete edition for Windows on GOG.com, and installed the Mac wrapper so beautifully made by Kaldor Silverwand (above).

Piece of cake. One I'm devouring every day...

Game on.

Salut!
