Starting NWN2 persistent world

Hello, 

Im planning to open brand new Game of Thrones inspired PW and I need some guidance. 

In case i have already made modules and haks with all the content for the game itself, what else have i do to put PW online?

  1. I will have to use some server - what are the recommanded parameters of HW? 
    I found out that game itself is able tu use only one core, is that true? so should i focus on processor with 2-4 cores and high performance per core?
    how much RAM is needed and do i need good GPU for server?
    suppose SSD disk would be better option, how much space is required by the game server?
  2. Is it better using linux or windows? In case of linux, is there some tutorial how to instal and start gameserver?
  3. What are the recommanded or usefull projects that should be used on the server?
  4. How do i get my world (modules and haks) online? I meen specify that i want to run my world, not the official campaign for example
  5. What is the limit of online players on PW?
  6. Can i run more PW on one server? for example additional testing one

Im sure that more questions will come as i progress in building the solution, but first i have to get the technical solution.

Before I start, There is a treasure trove of knowledge out there.

One of the more important things to read is:

 

1) Depends on how many players. Your best bet is go for a very high performance single core CPU. NWN2 doesn't gain as much benefit from muti-core. The more RAM / GPU, the better, but again it depends on how many players join. For 10 players you can get away with a very relaxed amount of hardware, for 92 players you will want something really good. A few hosting companies that are used from the big servers are:

2) NWN2 Server only supports windows.

3) NWNX is absolutely mandatory for a PW.

4) The NWServer launches your Module (The Main Starting Module For a Campaign) Which can then be added to a campaign, all campaign resources are auto pulled in.

5) I think 92 or 96

6) Yes, but you will probably want to deploy your test server locally, then you can make changes during deployment and get a faster turn around on testing, especially with NWNX database back end.

If you need help getting a basic server running on your machine with database access, message me on discord. It sounds complicated but if you do it in babysteps it's really not so bad.

@kamal: not this one. mine will be localized into czech language and the story will take part in different timeline. we just borrow the world and its history and create a characters and story that wont collide with anything GRRM wrote
