Nightmist: Afterlife PW

Hey folks,  I want to announce the existance of Nightmist: Afterlife, a persistent world now available in it's first stages (accessible via the NWNList Scry)

It is in its infancy, but I am building on a daily basis.  Right now there are no quests, very limited encounters and basically it is a social PW.  That will change considerably over the next few weeks.  I intend to add many quests from very simple to extremely complex as well as "dungeon crawls" for the best gear available in the game.  What WoW, EQ2 and others have huge staffs to accomplish, I am doing alone, so it ain't gonna happen overnight.  But it will happen.

When NWN2 first came out, I ran a PW server for a long time which had a substantial user base.  I don't expect the same to happen, but it would be nice to have some real regulars who can critique and suggest as I build the world.  One thing I am very proud of is my ability to create a visual, beautiful and unique environment.

I certainly can use a couple of DMs who will run adventures on a regular basis.

Right now I am considering a variety of options.  I do not want to create an HCR world, but there are a few things I like in HCR, including the "death" system.  I am playing with my own variation of this.

Even the website http://nightmistlive.com is in its infancy, but I do add updates daily an am in the process of adding 'gameplay' info.  The forums are available to all members.  So please consider joining the website.

(Thanks for the support Trinital.)

Folks I am looking for some players to test and suggest the world when possible.  Yes I am in the early stages of many things, but I will be looking for a couple DMs and possibly some additional staff.

This is a huge project for one person and I admit I am spending way too much time on getting things properly working.  I've been working on the database, which appears to only be partially operational - I am finding missing tables errors and have no idea why?  I assume they need to be created, but I thought that would happen within NWNx4.  Any thoughts?

Feel free to stop by http://nightmistlive.com and join in.

Here is the Greymohr Roadhouse in Nightmist: Afterlife.  It is designed as a social center and a place for good friends to meet.

I've been putting a ton of time and efffort into Nightmist.

Today I began adding the first of my low level quests, designed to assist players to make a little money and add some experience.

There are currently 37 zones/areas to visit including two larger cities, Quor'Esh and Syra as well as the villages of Old Forge and Dreymohr.  Between these cities are a number of adventure-oriented areas which will become more and more populated over the next few days.  Yes, most of the current MOBs are designed for low level characters, but as I build the world that will change.

In Dreymohr (village) is the Roadhouse, a place designed as a meeting area and Role Play tavern.  It is fully active and includes a bulletin board for people seeking group members and friendships.  Dreymohr Woods and Forge Upper Meadows have a few MOBs to play with and more are coming now that I believe I have every piece necessary (in the toolset) to do what I want.  I admit, there are probably a couple more things I will be adding at some point soon.

Quor'Esh is completely laid out, but I have yet to populat the largest city in the world at this point.  I do have two other planned major cities coming - Sanctum and Abyssal.  Each will be host to major factions which have a complete hatred of each other - the Seraph and the Daemyr.  Tose factions will play a large part in the world down the road.

Right now, what I really need are some people to Beta test what is completed and willing to give me fair opinions.  I want to create a truly great environment for players.

As I move forward over the next few weeks, I hope to sspend some serious time on the website http://nightmistlive.com and provide as much info as I can about the background, quests, characters and more to help with immersion.  Some info as well as forums is alreadty available.

Feel free to contact me here or via email at sangrey@nightmistlive.com .

You have a lot of Talent for Area creation there.. Very nice detail..

NWNX4 does not auto provide you anything beyond what's in the test module. (At module start it does some quick bootstrapping and creates a few tables).

There is no standard for PW's. Each PW handles their databases differently.

One thing I would suggest with gamespy being gone now, is to validate Account Names against CD Keys.. So the first time someone joins Compare the Account name and CD Key and never let a different person join on that account with a different CD Key.

CD Keys almost act like a private key now for validation. There are other things you can do, some servers have implemented in-game passwording or IP address logging.
