NwN2 Psionics mod

I have heard of mentions on various other forums of a psionics mod for NwN2 (or mods that add multiple classes including psionics), but they all linked to the old vault, and this vault only has a psionic mod for NwN1. Could you search through the mods that haven't been uploaded yet to see if there is a psionics mod there? Thanks.

Oh, thanks! They didn't pop up in my searches. Thank you!

It seems that neither of these contain psions as a class. The thing is that I have seen references to psionic mods in old forum posts (possibly linking to different mods). Notably, here and here. I don't know if there is any possible way to track down the files each of the mentioned links in these posts led to though.

The first link references this mod for NWN1, and the second contains a link to an NWN2 mod with vault ID 8231. I searched for it in Rolovault but nothing came up. It may have been removed by the author at some point before the files were saved.

And I'm guessing that you can't use a nwn1 mod with nwn2, right? Well, that sucks. Thanks for the help. Any other mod you know of that might work?

I don't know of any for Psionics, but I haven't played through NWN2 too much aside from the official campaigns. The Kaedrin's PRC Pack linked by Werelynx is good if you want some more variety though.

@Turkeys, the ID was 101, not 8231 and we actually have this migrated here: http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn2/hakpak/original-hakpak/player-r...

description mentions psionics! :)

fyi to Vault admins: The "report bugs" links on the PRG vault entry go to sites that are not only no longer valid, but try to install spyware.

yoshiquest There are basically two custom class packs for nwn2, Kaedrins (by far the most used), and Cyphres. Neither includes psions as a class. There are a few single class additions, but none of those are psions either. While the "PRG" existed at some point, it specifically states it's 0.1 alpha version and uses nwn1 specific code. You couldn't use it in any given module since it's a bunch of haks that would have to be added to a given module. Basically, it's not going to work at all barring massive work on your part.

tldr: you can't be a psion in nwn2

If you want to be a psion in nwn2, the best you can do is be a sorceror, select spells that would be appropriate as psion abilities, and rp that you are a psion and not a sorceror.

Thanks for the heads up. The links have been removed from the PRG page.

There is one, but, psionics don't really make much sense in a CRPG. I mean.. well, a computer game doesn't have a mind, can't really do much of what the psionics powers do, so, like more then half of the psionic powers are not implemented because, they make no sense in a computer simulation.

You can try but trust me, from having tried to make a design with psionics make sense. It doesn't really work. Think, an aboleth has quite a lot of psionic abilities, like creating illusions and doing all sorts of mentally horrible things to your character. But all you see is your character dazed and unable to move, how are you going to change the player's view to show that world of horrible illusion that the characters mind is now enslaved to? which is why they just added Dominate person to the game, because how do you make a phantasmal bridge to some mental world and make you a psionic prisoner in another dimension when all you see is you character standing there dazed?

Have fun anyways, but I don't think you'll even see a game do psionics in any convincingly interesting way.

Now, the funny thing is nothing makes sense about psionics. But, if you play it and are at all interested in what the rule book does, well, like half the psionic powers aren't implemented. Pretty much, every power that makes an Aboleth so evil, can't be done in a computer game in a way that would not be lame, or just so bizarre. So, like i said, after you try to implement them and see, nothing works. You will just use Dominate person, because it is pretty much all you can relate to your character's mind being bent by obscene powers.

Some powers do work, because they are physical. But, most psionic powers are mental. Since you have no way to view your characters mental state, nobody has a clue how to make those powers work in a computer game. In short, psionics are very lame on CRPGs because psionics are mental powers but computer characters don't have minds.
