Moon replacement

Hello. Sorry if this has been asked before, looking over the threads gave no hint about it.

There was a hak that replaces the Faerun moon (tears of selune) with a more generic moon. My attempts to find it, even with the time back machine website, were fruitless.

I don't think I've seen that particular mod, but I suspect the moon just uses a tga file. It might be in the same folder as the skydomes. If we can find it, then we can probably override it.

Ed.: Okay,  I found a moon.mdb file among the NWN2_MODELS, but it's not like any model file I've seen before. There are two packets with the types 'CMRS' and 'BILL'. The first packet is referencing something labelled 'sky_night'; possibly a texture file? But I don't see anything that matches.

The file you're looking for is fx_moon.dds. Replace that texture and you're all set.

I wonder if there is a way to change the fx_moon.dds image dynamically during the game? I.e. as if you were travelling from world to world? Perhaps if we could access the part name in game, we could apply a visual effect?

Note that there's a large set of potential images here, under the 'Fictional: Solar Systems, Planets, Etc.' section.

Thanks for the info, but I have a little problem.

I made a texture, but it creates an error ingame.

Trouble 1

You can see the moon I made here.

Moon

Since I cannot make dds files myself, I use an online converter, I fear that it is for that reason it turns out like this.

I have prepared the texture as TGA file, could someone give it a try so this error does not occur?

Here's the graphic converted via the GIMP DDS Plug-in: fx_moon.dds

yes, you need gimp + the dds plugin.

I think this is the dds plugin I have: https://code.google.com/archive/p/gimp-dds/

I have tried the gimp plugin in the past, it never worked. For some reason the option never showed up in my GIMP.

As for the texture provided, see for yourself. I added the folder structure so you can see it is not a problem on my end.

Or if you left that fx_moon.tga file in there. I'm not sure what order it reads in files, but perhaps that is causing a conflict.

Saved your dds again, removed the old one, and this time it worked. And the original texture trouble I had is not occuring. Many thanks.
