Better examine mod?

Hello, is it a way to see enemy/monsters class , race, alignment or even inventory , feats , skills? Any of these would be good.

As no one else has replied, let me tell you what little I know.

The examine function is hard-coded, so it can't be modified directly.

There are settings in nwnplayer.ini under [Server Options] which let you see less, but not more:

"Examine Effects On Creatures=1". If this option is turned off (set to 0) then any magical effects on a creature will not appear in the creature description when you examine a creature in the game (Note: DMs will still see the effects on the creature)

"Examine CR On Creatures=1". If this option is turned off then the challenge rating of a creature will not appear in the creature description when you examine a creature in the game.

What you could easily do is script a Player Tool or Unique Power Item that the player can use to target the creature. That could discover classes, race and alignment before entering combat (displaying information during combat is more tricky - it could be done with messages, but of course that would scroll off the screen very quickly,  owing to combat messages).

Feats and skills are more tricky, because there's no explicit NWScript command to loop through them. If you understand 2da files, you can use Get2DAString to read through feats.2da and skills.2da line by line, testing whether the creature has that feat/skill.

The inventory window will only open for henchmen, but your tool could provide a text description of each item in the creature's inventory.

AFAIK that's the story for vanilla NWN. I don't know whether bolt-ons such as NWNX offer more.

As the question is in NWN2 files wanted, the information written above may not apply, especially since the UI is fully accessible and moddable in NWN2, both for existing and new UI elements.

For NWN2, I believe Lance Botelle's modified examine screen provides at least some of the additional info you want.  However, I don't believe he has released it.  It will be a part of his campaign, which he says is in testing now.
