bizarre toolset display issues

greetings,

i've recently upgraded to windows 7 from windows xp and i'm now experiencing all manner of bizarre display issues w/the toolset. the grid lines and selection boxes will 'blur' whenever i move the stage, animated effects change colours, and some things simply won't display. [see attached -- apparently there's no way to u/l a simple image to this forum >:( so i've had to zip it]. i've made sure the toolset has admin privs, but otherwise haven't found anything that jumps out at me as a possible cause. anyone have any ideas about what could be doing this ?

thanks.

It's not a bug, it's a feature! ;-)

Have you tried compatibility modes?

well, this problem has resurfaced. in fact, the compatability mode fix worked only for the mod i was preparing at the time i first started this thread, so i'm thinking it was a fluke. the bug appears in just about any module i work on now, whether i'm preparing a new one from scratch or editing an old one from the vault. the really puzzling thing is that the bug seems to occur most often only after i've examined the properties of a placeable. i can paint down a large number of different tiles and feature sets and gobs of placeables, and i can zoom around or in/out w/the mouse no problem at all, but once i've examined the properties of even one placeable, rod serling steps in to manage my modding for me.

since the original image seems to have disappeared from the server, here's another one illustrating the problem -

screenshot of buggy toolset

this screenie was from a minimal, vanilla module -- no hak's, only 1 area, standard tileset delivered w/1.69.  notice the multiple green bounding boxes on the placeable and the multiple red tile guides.

i've tried all possible combinations of the following -
- compatibility mode xp sp3
- compatibility mode xp sp2
- disable visual themes
- disable desktop composition

the process runs as administrator.

i have 8 gigs of ram, of which only 3-4 gigs are typically in use [i wonder if this could still be an issue since nwtoolset is a 32-bit app?]  the problem occurs even when i'm working on a really minimal-sized module [e.g. one 4x4 area, total module size on disk = 2mb].

i'm using the mobo's graphics controller, an intel g-965 gpu w/384mb of onboard ram.

the toolset was running fine on this machine when i had windows xp running on it, but now w/windows 7 x64... sad

anybody have any ideas how i could get rid of this bug ?  so far, it makes editing an area pretty much impossible.
