Why are there so many modules with less than 25 votes on that list? Did the requirements for reaching hall of fame status change?

Reqs for HoF for old vault:

300 downloads (lowered from old 2500?)

25 votes (stayed the sam)

8.00+ overall score

or..

be a part of the series by the same author that one part already reached HoF. Additionally we would add it after 3 months after initial approval.

and..

some modules after being inducted to HoF received some negative votes so there might be modules with 7.50-7.99 as well. They were not removed after dropping the score.

Will you later include new HOF nominations in this list (using late IGN Vault and New Vault votes), or is this just the old slightly outdated IGN list intended for (useful) reference ? In this case, maybe add some New Vault separate HOF list.

Currently all the Vault has is a star rating and that makes it difficult to put a module in Hall of Fame with no standard set to do so.

A minimum of 8 stars of 25+ star votes? A minimum of just 25+ star votes? Etc.

There's never been a discusion on how it would be handled that I'm aware of on the forum. The NWVault had scripts to detect when a module received a number of votes and downloads for HoF status. I don't believe there is anything in place currently here.

For now, the list Proleric has provided is for migration purposes, and so players can review these lists and link directly to that content, based on their standings from NWVault at the time the data was mined.

HoF scripts were broken few years ago and we added it by hand (though search was wonky as well).

If and when a HOF is instituted for the new vault, the simplest way to do it (I think, anwyay)would be to just add a new vocabulary to taxonomies.  We could even split it up -- have terms like "Old vault HOF," "Hall of Fame," and "HOF Candidate" if we want to have some sort of comment/feedback period before inducting new entries.

Well, in a word, yes.  Doing so does require an additional module, though(either Taxonomy Term Permissions or Taxonomy Access Control).  Default permissions only apply to editing, creating, and deleting terms.  Otherwise, it's just like tags with a drop-down list -- the permission to change it is the same as permission to edit the node. 

You seem to be well versed in Drupal (more than me at least :P and I have zero skill points in that)

Have you contacted Rolo?

We've been using Drupal as our preferred CMS for years, and I've built sites with it both for myself and customers, so I'm reasonably familiar with it on the admin side.  I've never had a go at actually writing a module or hacking it, though, so I wouldn' really consider myself expert.

I did PM Rolo a couple of weeks back offering to help with site design/optimization/maintenance or with automating the migration process (I managed to get the module and hakpak data into SQL), but I haven't heard back, and I didn't want to seem pushy.

I get the feeling that Rolo barely has the time to give direction on that front at the moment. =/

I've noticed that he's not too much in evidence of late, and I'm sure he has more important demands on his time than this site.  I just wish I'd timed things better and gotten onboard earlier. As it is, I see folks asking for things that I know how to do, but I lack the necessary access.

Of course, everything seems to be going swimmingly, and it's not as if there's a lack of things that I can do.  Heck, we've added over 900 modules in the last six weeks, so just trying to contribute to that effort should keep me plenty busy.

Seriously, though, this is impressive.  The HOF was the part of the old vault that I used most, and the part that I really missed.  It also represents, all by itself, more than half of the "worthwhile" modules on the old vault (modules with 10 votes or more).

Absolutely not my intention to bother you or to diminish your effort, but I think we should also take into account (and maybe add an appropriate note at the top of the table) that this 'Hall of Fame' list is still not quite accurate - in some cases. We can easily confirmed that, cause we are still able to get more up-to-date data (score, votes, downloads) on some of the modules - from Wayback Machine, eg.:

I'm not suggesting that such update is possible (or even: necessary) for each entry on your list. I think that instead a simple note explaining, that in some cases, more accurate data can be captured from Wayback Machine by checking out: http://web.archive.org/web/http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.... (simply replacing digits at the end, with the old Vault  ID of the given module) - would be quite enough. 

BTW... by comparing (comments - dates) on this, archived by WM, page - with: ftp://neverwintervault.org/rolovault/projects/nwn1/modules/6301/index.html we can establish the date, when Rolo captured Prophet, Ch.3 page: that happened beetwen 4th (18:08) and 7th (10:30) February 2013. 

Moreover, the comparison of the dates on "Revelations" and "Blood and Tears" (bastard of Kosigan, episode 3 and 4) page:

- reveals that some of the modules from ign nwvault were archived even before 2012-11-13! That's why the accuracy of some important informations (scores, numbers of votes) is questionable.

And that is the main reason why I am quite skeptical about all those clever ideas of a combining modules ratings - from the old and the new nwvault... 

Greetings.  I hope this isn't in a wrong place, I just wanted to express appreciation for the work that has been done in re-establishing a NWN vault page.  You've gone above and beyond, and it's amazing.  I had lost alot of my old Neverwinter material, and so have begun redownloading.  The deeper I've dug, the more my appreciation has grown for what you've accomplished.

One comment of frustration is the confusion over the multiple 'Eye of the Beholder' modules.  I would have addressed this on the mod itself, but had no idea which one.  I still haven't gained a clearity on just how many 'different' ones there are, or what is outdated material for another.  I've found I've inadvertintly downloaded multiples of the same material, and would like clearity on just which modules are a part of the same group, and what material goes with which version.  Anyway they can be differentiated, and focused on fewer pages would really help.

This is the latest Eye of the Beholder mod. Be sure to check its MODDB page for the most up-to-date version as the one hosted here is quite out of date. There are some modules which you'll find have duplicated names (Eye of the Beholder/Tomb of Horrors/Temple of Elemental Evil have a few off the top of my head). They're usually Old PnP Conversions as the authors would just use the name of what they recreated. In the case of Eye of the Beholder, I believe they were all built off of eachother, with the latest version of Eye of the Beholder 1 being the one by Rick Francis (Alternate Version made by Wolfspirit) and Eye of the Beholder 2 by Darks.

Rick Francis (part 1) and Darks (part 2) are the same person (or members of the same team). Part 2 is different from part 1 and requires different PC. Storywise there is only light connection between the two. I can recommend playing both to you ;)

Anyone thinks we should make polls as to which conversion of given module is the best? With links etc.

I think that would be a good idea for the Adventurer Club that plays through modules, especially for the PnP Conversions that have multiple versions, though some of the modules are on the lengthy side.

I just now noticed this thread, as I don't visit the vault on the regular basis. Now, I did upload some modules when the old vault went down. However, for that purpose I used my collection of mods. Seeing that something funny happens with the vault and with Gamespy gone for two years at that point, I have downloaded all the mods I deeemed of some value (my personal discretion) in June 2014. I also saved the first page of the mod comments, so those pages should have the latest info on the mods at the time when the vault went down. 

I think we have first page of comments for July 2013. This means that your pages could be useful. If you see any important comments(like fixes, warnings, praises etc.) than feel free to post them in comments section under projects. If you will find something that should be uploaded separately as html/text file than contact someone with mod/admin like me.

How to access comments from July 2013:

1. Go to ftp://neverwintervault.org/rolovault/projects/nwn1/

2. Find category (modules probably)

3. Find ID number

4.Open index file

Also If your files are newer than July 2013, when our scrapper was blocked, you could contact one of our mod/admin folk to upload them. Note that if you have pages saved it should be easy to determine if it's newer file or the same.

The “TBA” can be taken off of Sanctum of the Archmage 2, since the remake is finally available. Both Sanctum modules should probably be listed as “Updated,” since the versions of each that are available here are updated from what was available on the old Vault.
