placeables.2da - Where's your stuff so I know where to put more of your stuff?
Doing a quick scan through placeables.2da (it helps to have things color-coded in Excel), it looks like I'll have basically no free lines left after adding content that's in my current batch of voting. Y'all are a prolific bunch of custom content makers!

This means that to continue to add new material as time goes on, I'm going to need to extend the "reserved" range of 2da lines that I can work with. Below are the current ranges.

Current CEP Reserved Lines: placeables.2da
1500-3999
4169-4196 (C.R.A.P. minerals - strange numbering, probably done to be C.R.A.P. compatible)
4200-5999
8001-11999

Current BioWare/User Reserved Lines:
0-1499
4000-4168
4197-4199
6000-8000

If you folks would be so kind as to post any additional chunks of space you currently use outside of these, or have definite plans to use, can you post them here? I want to pick a range of lines that aren't likely to be used so that future merges easier for builders.

Thanks!

For my CEP/Q merge I had to move a bunch of the CEP stuff from < 5000 (Q reserved placeables limit) to above 12000.  Then there are some other things up there like the witcher placeables.   17500 would be a good place to start for me. You did ask :)

I have a lot of blocks in the D20 Modern haks that I would rather not see overwritten. This happened rather extensively in the past and caused us no end of trouble trying to stay compatible when moving from 1.3/1.4 to 2.0, recognition of D20 Modern reserved lines being something I approached the previous CEP team over on behalf of the then team and got turned down. I'd really appreciate it if you avoided the following blocks.

1000 to 1498 (Legacy lines from 1.3/1.4)

3902 to 3922 (Legacy lines from 1.3/1.4)

4000 to 4176 (Legacy lines from 1.3/1.4)

6000 to 8000  (Appropriated Bioware lines used by CC makers in their own 2das, including CEP model line relocation.)

20001 to 23034

So I need to up the ante from Meaglyn and ask if you could start after 25000 for any new block.

> 1000 to 1498 (Legacy lines from 1.3/1.4)

>>> already covered by bioware/user lines 0-1499

> 3902 to 3922 (Legacy lines from 1.3/1.4)

>>> unfortunately already used in a past CEP release since it was in an older CEP reserved range (some trees and such by Lord of Worms)

> 4000 to 4176 (Legacy lines from 1.3/1.4)

>>> partially covered by bioware/user lines 4000-4168. The other lines are used by some C.R.A.P. mineral placeables, so if you aren't using the minerals for d20 Modern...

> 6000 to 8000  (Appropriated Bioware lines used by CC makers in their own 2das, including CEP model line relocation.)

>>> already covered by bioware/user lines 6000-8000

> 20001 to 23034

>>> nothing in CEP yet beyond line 11999, so we're good here.

> So I need to up the ante from Meaglyn and ask if you could start after 25000 for any new block.

>>> Noted. Thanks!

As you should be aware by now I have tried to make all my stuff CEP compatible (not sure about stuff I made for the ccc though) so there should be no worries as long as you stay away from those lines marked as being for users.

@ Amethyst Dragon

Yeah, from what I understand the overlap from previous versions was created during the CEP 2.0 to 2.4 releases which overlapped lines from the 1.3/1.4 D20 Modern version that we couldn't move without breaking our own reverse compatibility. That meant we (then I) had to move a lot of CEP lines and hence make a lot of the CEP templates ineffective for builders, unfortunately. I'm not concerned about the older lines, it's accounted for and dealt with and since then Modern has been able to avoid CEP lines, but it would be really, really nice to not go there again.

It's great news that new developments are being taken after a process of consultation with the aim of co-operation, and I for one thank you for it!

In other news though can we chat about the creature 2da ..... wink

I've still got space (about 1,500 lines) in the CEP reserved ranges for appearance.2da from a long time ago.

I found the reserved ranges when going through the 2.4 2da files when I first got started on 2.60, though I think we expanded the range for one of the 2da files after some discussion on the now-dead BSN (I just don't remember which one).

Witcher placeables start at 12000 and I've got around 500 so far, but there's some more, probably about 250.

Thanks, folks. I'm going to go with setting 12,000-24,999 as USER and 25,000-29,999 in placeables.2da as CEP_RESERVED. I think 5k lines should work for a while.
