Do people still run games?

I see there still is tons of servers out there for the worlds, but do people still get together and run games? Like 1 DM and a bunch of players? I remember this was the big thing back when I first got this game, and did it a lot after being a "Certified DM". Was loads of fun, but a lot of work. Just curious if its still happening anymore? I see the neverwinterconnections website is basically gone.. so just curious here

I have predominately played NWN that way throughout the years.

I see. I was wondering about it. I don't seem to find much about someone hosting games. I know its not easy to build something for a weekly game these days, but hey once a month or twice, couple of hours, using skype or discord, it could be fun. We had to use teamspeak back in the day and it kind of stunk.

This was my preference as well for NWN, but am currently doing this with table top games as you can do much more with them.

Just for curiosity: two tens of people are doing this in Brazil (role play) at http://www.nwnbrasil.com.br/

(yes they do use discord, skype etc.)

I agree, playing an actual RPG tabletop is a lot better then the game, and I do that weekly. BUT I always found it fun to use NWN and have people play in that world. Was a blast

Playing in or running a DMed campaign is the only way I have played for 10 years. I currently play in three while developing a new module to use as a DM. I wouldn't ever dismiss the worth of a PW for those who want to spend more time playing or who can't commit to a timetabled session but in my opinion there is nothing as good as a DMed campaign and never will be. I play and DM using Fantasy Grounds too but while it's more work still think the NWN platform is more satisfying.

I imagine there are more sites available out there to do it but I don't think it's a bad idea to have an option to advertise and record information on this site, in the same way as NWNConnections and NWNCampaigns (a site just two groups I am in use now) if there there are not.
