There's not a whole lot in the modding community for NWN for gaymers. So instead of crying about, it I just thought I'd make some content myself. Everything about it is explained in the manual but basically this is an alternative world of NWN where gay relations and gay people have been normalized for hundreds of years and it's explained why in a lore friendly way. This is still the same classic Neverwinter Nights but with new twists. The textures are improve through community resources and there are new and exciting ways to customize your character as well as new realistic henchmen and romantic interests. If you're a gay player and you're curious, give it a spin. I hope that you'll be impressed!
Please read the manual first, there is some preparation that must be done.
Update 1: I now know that people either love or hate the PRC in this community. Also it can cause crashing when trying to save and load on the much older GOG version of NWN. So I uploaded a version WITHOUT PRC in case you prefer playing without it.
Update 2: Uploaded a "diet" version of the material. This is as close to vanilla as reasonable with neither project q, cep or prc. The gf hak is still required but that's included in the download. This is meant to be a sort of "Fail safe" just in case the full version isn't working for whatever fickle arbitrary reasons. Gay material is so desolately rare in this community, there's no excuse for any gaymer to not be able to enjoy this. But still this is a very reductive version than what I originally envisioned. I exponentially recommend at least trying the full version than using this version if anything goes irreparably wrong.
NOTE: I do NOT recommend playing this material with NWN EE. This was developed, tried and tested on the GOG version first and foremost.
Update 3: If you are using NWN EE you MIGHT be able to play the FULL version of the mod. Here's How:
EE auto-generates a NWN directory in your documents folder upon installation. Do not mod the core files of the program, use this directory instead. You must have ALL the Q Haks, CEP v2, and ALL PRC haks in the hak folder of your DOCUMENTS directory. And also needless to say all the Module files in the MOD folder of the DOCUMENTS directory. Once you have everything designated in place in the directory in your Documents folder then everything should work seamlessly. This fixed all the problems on my end with the EE. I'm not saying this will fix everthing but it is just another thing to try if you're having trouble getting this mod to work.

Hmmm, is there only LGBT content or is there something also new stuff for straight players to look forward?
Plenty, the quality is better than vanilla and should you choose Adagio and/or I'luun the combat will be tougher if you like more of a challenge. There is also about a dozen types of new creatures. However I did intend this only for gay men and you'll be assumed you are as such. If that turns you away and makes you feel wierd, I understand.
"If you're a gay player and you're curious, give it a spin." .. Heh..
Great work..! Not my personal preference but keep at it - I'm sure this will give a ton of content for many players.
Oh hah! Hah! And thanks! that's what I wanted! :)
Hahaha! Glad someone agrees! And I couldn't not use your heads! Their so high-tech and real looking!
Thank you so much man! Means a lot! It certainly a labor of love!
Is the PRC required required? That is, must one actually use the PRC hak's even though I am not intested in any of the PRC classes?
It would require manually removing the hacks from the modules directly from the toolset. It's not super easy to work with and these are giant in the scale of usual NWN modules. It would easily be several hours of work. I would honestly just try it as is. You can still play as any traditional DnD 3rd ed class with PRC as well. If you don't have the haks their not big files at all, you can download them quickly.
I donwloaded the -prc version, copied all the HAK files into the HAK foler of NWN, the MOD files into the MODULES folder, the PORTRAITS into the PORTRAITS folder, and the MOV file into the MOVIES folder.
Then I start the game. I pick chapter 1 from the list of modules, the I click on CREATE NEW CHARACTER.
The game promptly gives me an error message that it is missing a custom talk table and that's it.
I checked everything in the original file that I downloaded. There are the four folders that I mentioned, some JPGs and the manual. It sounds like a very interesting game that I would like to play as soon as I can get it running.
Sorry I couldn't get to this sooner. I've been working in the fields 300+ miles away all week and just came home sunburnt dirty and tired.
You can't download everything that you'll need in this single link. I'm not allowed to include everything needed for size and space reasons. If you're sure you have all the other files that DON'T come with the download (CEP and Project Q) than this is very easy to rectify.
1. Open the toolset on the module to the point where you are allowed to edit the module.
2. Click edit and then Module Properties
3. Go to the custom content tab.
4. Go down to custom tlk file
5. Select a file you know for a fact you have. (Project Q always works for these)
Save and exit
After that it should reload. Remember only try this if you're sure you have everything else.
Source: I ran into that same problem and fixed it that way.
Hope this helps.
Also the portraits and the Movie are NOT required. The portraits are there if you happen to like them and want to use them. The Movie is there if you felt dissatisfied with the Canon outro and want something better. And to my knowledge NWN doesn't use JPGs virtually at all unless to change them into TGAs. Don't stress yourself out with those files.
@LiamChgo have you got and installed the required projects (project Q, CEP and the PRC)? They are linked to directly underneath the module download links.
TR
I thought I had Project Q already installed, but now I'm not so sure so I'm downloading it again.
CEP I know for sure is running properly.
I went with the version that did not need PRC. I downloaded the executable file for it but haven't run it yet.
Made sure that Project Q and it's patches were installed fully. Started playing (LOVED the changes to Pavel!), but when it came time to save character and start chapter 2, now I'm told that there's missing .hak files. The AR_ERROR log shows "Names Differ: c_dryad qc_dryad".
I'll look into it but know that's not something I can just snap my fingers and do in a few minutes. But it sounds like just a simple naming issue. In the meantime you can edit the raw files themselves by using the Hak.exe which can be found in the utils file. The qc_dryad files can be found in the q_creatures hak file. You can extract these files, rename them and then reintegrate them. What might even be easier for you is to simply download and install an older version of Project Q which many different versions can be found on their sight.
I hope that helps.
Just to avoid any confusion here - The program you use is actually called nwhak.exe. Also just renaming the file itself won't work. It needs all instances of that name found in the .mdl file itself to be altered as well. If you haven't done anything like this before, you are definitely better off trying an earlier version of Q first.

Hey @LiamChgo! Just in case you haven't raged quit and smashed your computer yet, I do have a couple more suggestions.
First off, I tried running this with the NWN EE and got virtually the same errors you had. It's very likely you're using this version Personally, I think NWN EE is a hotbed of glitches and bugs and should've never been released in the state that it was in. Sure it looks breath taking but that hardly redeems it. That might sound like tough talk coming from me but at least you don't have to pay for my material. The older Diamond edition on GOG games isn't perfect but is much more dependable in my experience and might work for you at least for these files. Plus you can bypass the Steam border patrol which I'm sure I'm not the only one who despises. Objectively, this overhaul was created, tried and tested only with the GOG version and only with the GOG version in mind so it's only prudent you test it there. This is just something to try.
If that's not the case and it just doesn't work for you no matter what you do. I did put together a "diet" version for players who are in your shoes. This version is closest to vanilla and uses no assets from Project Q or the CEP. It uses assets from the GF hak but that's included in the download and is virtually entirely inconsequential texture and model files. I've tried it with NWN EE and it does in fact work.
I know it might feel a little dissapointing and I'm sorry it's the way that it is, but it's better than not being able to play it at all because of a silly glitch.
Hope all this works out better for you. Let me know if you need further help. Me being the amateur programmer I am, I can only try.

Friend firendeath123,
It's always refreshing to see any sort of content that is out of the mainstream! And I'm sure my two gay daughters would love it, too! I look forward to giving this mod a spin whenever I get a PC with NwN!
Thanks for contributing to the community!
I'm glad to hear it. I appreciate your enthusiasm. But this overhaul is intended exclusively for gay men. Any character of either gender and gender preference can play it but they'll always be assumed as such. I don't want anyone to be dissapointed but if you guys still want to try it then more power to you.
Thanks a lot

Having now played up to chapter four with the PRC, and fully intending to do the rest...
I really like this concept, and I think any planned expansion to the other campaigns and/or creating replacements for the other characters like Daelan, or even simply opening them up to male relationships, would be excellent.
There are some areas that could be tweaked a little bit; for one there are a good deal of typos throughout the mod so far, as well as occasional blips where the overwritten characters peek through (Illun's still refered to as a she within the game journal, and Sharwyn's Bow appears on different versions of Adagio).
The characters themselves are fine, Illun for the most part is male Linu and she was a fun character to begin with. Adagio feels less fleshed out so far...There's times where he's more stoic, and yet there's a few really odd lines thrown in his interactions that seem a little bit out of character (such as the build up to and the players response about drinking his blood for insulin now that Adagio made him Diabetic)
There's also difficulty; from entering into the game at level 5 and hiring both men straight away they blow everything away. I'm not sure if they start that powerful due to limitations in getting them to level with the player but both men can easily solo most threats put against them. There's also the added characters such as the Sages in Helm's Hold and the Statue of the Chinese Goddess of Compassion during the Desther ritual; these guys just blow the enemy away. If this is intended I'm not entirely sure; not a big deal since I just pulled up difficulty to max since I'm playing through as a True Necromancer and the minions tend to make things a bit simpler anyway. I tend to powerbuild so admittedly this might be better examined by someone who isn't minmaxing.
But all in all, I never wanted to play through the OC originally after the first few Chapter 2 missions because I got bored; but these two henchmen are far more entertaining and have got me going through it, thank you! I wish you the very best of luck if you're planning to take this further; I'm very excited to see more!
Edit: Also, just for anyone else like me who kept trying to add the modules to the mod folder and expecting them to load as overrides to the OC; just put them in modules and load them as you would a custom/premium module; works fine.
Wow! That's amazing news! I'm so happy to hear that I made it better than the original for you! You're making my blush!
As for the errors, I did go through with a fine tooth comb but I knew that not all of them were going to be caught. Some of them are unavoidable and would require changing the scripts which is very risky business if your a novice programmer like me. I assumed the weapons were like the token items but I can go back and check. But with all due respect I still stand by not updating everytime a non-game breaking error is found. Otherwise It would almost turn into a full time job and I just don't the time right now. Maybe someday I'll compile all the errors and do a one time update again but it can't be anytime soon.
As I remember the PC himself says that to Adagio when the "evil" branch of the convo is taken. I did try to include both a good/nuetral branch and an evil branch as many times as possible in the dialogues but in retrospect this probably was a little too limited.
It sounds like you're after Adagio. I'luun is more forthcoming but Adagio warms up as you progress. Even in Luskan in the Cutlass he'll come clean to you if you stop and talk to him. It sounds like you like playing as evil characters but going forward make an exception and show him some support and he'll open up to you. I tried to make them both feel like getting to know real people.
For the difficulty, it sounds like your game might have a problem with leveling giving you only the easiest creatures. From my end it's always a substantial but do-able challenge with both in the party. I'm sorry, I don't know how to help you on this one if that's the case but it sounds like it's not too much of an issue for you so I guess I can brush it off. And yes, I did not take into account playing with an army of undead behind you. ;)
Thanks again for the support and the honesty. This made my week.Glad it's paying off and people are apreciating it! I'm still working on this series so stay tuned! :)
Thanks for response!
The typos aren't game breaking by any means, in all truth reading back I'm probably being too harsh. I've been pursuing both of them, the dialogue and responses between them both to each other are quite good and I was interested in seeing most of the outcomes; and the pace of their development is very good. Reluctant to state a preference just yet, they're both very engaging (though...I'luun is very cute)
Feeling a bit sheepish but I've got to retract my statement on the difficulty; due to a hak conflict my end the Zone of Desecration aura from the True Necromancer was also partially buffing the men with a fairly high STR bonus that wasn't noted on the CHA sheet! Removed the spawns are noticeably more challenging. I might play through the first few bits again as something else, I like playing summoner/minion master type PC's but something Good rather than Neutral aligned might be more fitting, seeing as their responses to my token minor evil actions to stay Neutral make me feel like a dick; as they should, just their written disapproval is just spot on.
But yeah I've really enjoyed it so far, short of a few online servers with small groups of gays there's really not been much in this department for the guys before now; really looking forward to see what could be coming next <3
Also, the hairy models are a great improvement; the hairless barbie look always looked creepy to me!
Okay, here's a new one.
First, I had to download the two versions of CEP and reinstall them both, but I managed to get the game working past the first chapter. The version of the game that I'm running it the original with all patches and both SoU and HotU.
My new problem is with Cloaktower membership. I found all the items that she wanted and I have access to the portal. When I go through, I face the two rather homicidal angels of Apollo and Dionysis. I grab the wands, use them in the correct order (earth, water, air, fire) and get no result. In the end I have to kill both angels. I have done this alone, with my henchman, with my familiar, and with both at the same time. The end result is that after I kill both angels, collect the one alexandrite and the potion of cure critical wounds, and return through the portal, she tells me I failed. I have an option of paying 200 to do it again, which I've tried. This time I appear in an empty room. I collect all of the wands, use them, and am told I failed again. I've tried going in and rather than fight the angels, I just grab the wands and run out. Fail again.
I've targeted myself with the wands, I've targeted one of the angels, I've targeted the floor when that is an option. Failure every time.
What am I doing wrong with trying to succeed at this test?
I played it on that version up to that point just to make sure and had the same problem. One of the bodies is supposed to stay lootable so you can pick up an angel feather for proof. It looks like the script inexplicably broke. *Smiles, sits still for a minute and then flips desk*
Don't worry about it for now. Disregard it. It's not a main quest and if you've already played through this quest in vanilla you know that the payoff isn't worth the trouble, the damn cloak isn't even useful from luskan onwards.
Are all the modules at least loading for you? I hope there's no more problems in that regard.
The bodies both vanish, but each leaves remains. One leaves a potion while the other leaves a gem.
Yes, the modules appear to be loading properly since I've loaded both versions of CEP.
I seem to have uncovered another glitch. In the Host Tower, level 5, when speaking to Ahriman, he asks that you destroy the nearby brazier for him. I do so, yet there is no reaction from him acknowledging the destruction of the brazier. So I just leave him trapped, with his promises of rewards unfulfilled.
Darling, if you're in the host tower, freeing him is the LEAST of your problems! In the meantime, you can go and sweet talk Blaskar if you're really feeling so jipped!
But thanks though, I'll look into fixing it when I have the time. :) Sorry it took so long to notice this.
where can i get head on second screen(guy in blue t-shirt)?
Adagio's in the trade of blades in neverwinter, It's an inn in the northwest of the city core. Left most room when you enter in. Where Sharwyn used to be because, well, he is Sharwyn in this universe.
In helms hold he's right behind some pillars in the ritual room.
In Port Llast he's real close to where you start. Just in the other room.
In Luskan, he's in the cutlass. You can't miss him.
In Beorunna's well, he's real close to where you start. In literally the same room.
Same in the last chapter.
