Embers of Black - Chapter Ten Migrate Wizard 2015-09-29 4 years 6 months ago

Head turning left and right, looking for any possible danger, Naestra sprinted across the tundra. The war cries of the paladin had cut off abruptly, though she didn't want to think what that must mean.

Chosen of Eilistraee Migrate Wizard 2015-09-30 4 years 6 months ago

The soothing notes of a harp danced through the fresh morning air. Like a fairy causing ripples on a clear, spring pond it touched upon the children already out to play in the orange gleam of the dawn sun. Swirling through the open doors and windows of the small hamlet, it moved around the cobbler' s workplace, defied the beat of the smith's hammer and pulled the people from their homes. As tendrils of smoke spreading from house to house it soon had all those able standing in the street to see the source of the pleasant music.

Wilderness: Book One - The Forest (Chapter Twenty-Three - A Baited Trap) Migrate Wizard 2015-09-25 4 years 6 months ago

For a few moments, the chamber fell silent. Nobody dared to speak in such a place, and the dwarfs began to make their way back up the steps into the library above. This was one of the greatest elven wizards the mountains had ever known, and his lifeless body lay before them, vulnerable and frail. Tarok stepped solemnly away from the great wizard and turned to his friends. The dwarfs bowed their heads in respect and took off their helmets, looking away from the scene and returning to their work above. "It's a sorry time, Tarok," began Randor, "we have come so close to the one man who might be able to help us and here he is, dead."

The Stars are Bright Migrate Wizard 2015-10-03 4 years 6 months ago

The stars are bright tonight thought Cry as he stared into the clear, bright sky, beautiful points of fire in the heavens... His eyes traced the purple tides of galaxies across the skies until he found his favorite star, Cormus, named after the god of storms, the wanderer. As he watched a mass of clouds began to move across the horizon; he narrowed his eyes as it began passing over the herds of glimmering stars, approaching his. As the first wisp passed across it Cry began concentrating intently; the wisp of cloud thinned and the star became visible once again. There... He returned his attention to the rampart he was patrolling. The stones were slick underneath his sandaled feet, but he was used to it having lived by the sea all his life. He strode confidently across the narrow battlement, to lean against the low, stone wall. He scanned the shore of the small island; the beach was within easy walking distance of the fort and Cry could hear the comforting sound of the waves upon the shore. He closed his eyes remembering previous nights like this.

The Misadventures of the Venerable Mister Pinker - Chapter Two Migrate Wizard 2015-09-24 4 years 6 months ago

The merchant cart rolled away down the horribly rutted, muddy road. Behind it the merchant left one very short person and two bizarre steeds. Their horses (for they appeared as the body of a horse) were made of iron, with scale mail covering their sides and plate mail making up their armored heads. They were beautifully crafted, complete with the visage of a true horse. However, instead of legs each had two wheels and instead of a tail they had what looked like miniature smokestacks that billowed black smoke. As they stood there, the air was filled with a reverberating roaring sound.

Order of Mithril Warhammers - A Time of Beginnings Migrate Wizard 2015-09-30 4 years 6 months ago

As Simeron walked out the door of his small home in Underhill, he could sense something was wrong. He could feel it in his bones and beard. The darkened street was totally empty of life. No beggars or urchins, no travelers, not even a rat was out...except him. He didn't like it at all but, he had a job to do and by Mordains hammer, he was going to get it done. So, with a heavy sigh, he hefted his own hammer and shield and walked out of his small house, locking the door behind him. He wished to be with his fellows this night, sitting in front of a warm hearth spinning tales over warm honey mead with a cinnamon stick. It was Magnus that had got him started on that brew on a dare and now, while a good dwarven ale still tasted good, he honestly preferred the mead. He was torn from his musing by something in the back of his head that screamed an alarm. Reacting on pure reflex and instinct, he dropped to one knee and raised his shield in a defensive mode. A loud KLANG resounded off it as he felt a heavy blow strike first the shield, then his door. He turned to see a rather shocked human dressed in black studded leather and wielding a pair of jagged black orc scimitars. He was ugly, even for a human but as Simeron caught his scent all became clearer.

One Day's Work Migrate Wizard 2015-09-26 4 years 6 months ago

As the mist fades from the shore, Tiri-Nuan wakes to another day. The farm carts, awake for hours, slowly creak into the city like a small army of ants. Each cart pulled by an equally lethargic mule or horse. The chill of the sea slowly dissolves with the mist as the day-globe warms the morning with a golden light. As the day grows, the shrill sound of the crier wakes the town, and as with every day, the lone voice takes up the chant of Bula, which marks the beginning of the morning business. All this is so commonplace, that Thorn barely notices it. She has more important thing to do today than to notice the music of the chant or the bustling of the market. Today someone will die.

Why Betty Sottle across the street showed me her 25th wedding anniversary gift from her husband and guess what it was mother, it was a platinum bracelet with emeralds all around. I counted 25 of em, one for each year of marriage she said' Brian snorts loudly and spits in his hanky taking on a coughing fit.

"Betty Sottle is something to look at, all leg and boobs. Damn it, if I were her husband I’d buy her twenty platinum bracelets; her old man says she’s a devil in the sack and I believe him! Demon Eye - Part Three Migrate Wizard 2015-10-10 4 years 6 months ago

Everything in sight was aflame, including me. My clothes were gone in seconds. It as if we stood in the midst of a roaring campfire, shrunken to the size of insects. It was terrifying, even though I’d been through it before. I could only imagine what the others were feeling. Then suddenly, through the fire and billowing black smoke, strode Hahzak.

Where Damut was a monster, Hahzak was something else. He was tall and hideous; every inch of him aflame, but he stood as a god amongst sheep. His chest was thrust out and his arms thrown back; flame dripped from his fingertips and streamed from his mouth like vomit. His single eye burned yellow as fired gold. I had the sinking feeling I’d not seen him at his best the first time we’d met.

Gareth Beckwin looked out over the Hall, which was more than half full just two hours past sunrise. Gareth stood on a dais, left hand resting on one of the back posts of Duke Olandis Pell's throne. The grand chair was the only seat in the Hall. The many benches in the great room had been removed in order to fit more people into the Hall. The commoners all had their reasons for being present this day, and all looked forward to speaking to their Duke. Olandis Pell had not yet arrived and was not expected for another hour at least.

Wilderness: Book One - The Forest (Chapter Nine - The First Test) Migrate Wizard 2015-09-25 4 years 6 months ago

After the excitement of the previous night's celebration feast, none of the group particularly relished the thought of returning to the task before them. Caer Chan Carega #3 Migrate Wizard 2015-10-13 4 years 6 months ago

This is an unpolished (but finished) story that takes place somewhere in the world that I created. It was written as a means of showing off the actions and abilities of Magic, in this case the Elemental Magic of Earth. There will be 6 of these stories, for the 6 forms of magic: The four Elements (Air, Earth, Water, Fire), Spirit, and Nature magic. The four elements, are, as usual for elemental magic, tied together somewhat, although in a slightly different manner: Air opposes Fire, and Earth opposes Water. Spirit and Nature magic are entirely different, one based on the existence of the spirit world (think Greek Hades, as a general guide), and Nature magic, which is very totemic in nature. This story will be published in 15 installments.

This is part three of the story of Earth. This takes place in a more defined setting, the city of Tri-Hauwcerton, more easily called the city of Earth. It lies in the North and West, cupped by the valley of a great mountain range.

I ended up choosing an image that represented Chloddio's love of the high mountains

Demon Eye - Part One Migrate Wizard 2015-10-08 4 years 6 months ago

Truth be told, I should have left town then. I had obviously been targeted as a rich sheep to be sheared by the local criminal element. They certainly wouldn’t give up trying to relieve me of my wealth just because I tossed one out a window. In fact, they might even take it personally. The best course of action would have been to pack up my things and move on.

However...I was insulted.

The Fallen Leaf - Chapter One Migrate Wizard 2015-10-02 4 years 6 months ago

There is a leaf. There are many leaves, but this one is special. Just before it was going to hit the ground, a wind gust came. The leaf is taken high up in the air, and below the leaf you can see a forest. It is not just a couple of trees growing near each other, it is a really large wood, like the ones that used to be on earth before man came. This particular forest is not what you would call your average forest. It is a really old and magical forest. It gives an impression of grace, and it could have been standing there since the great winds that shaped the earth first came. It is night, and all over the forest there is peace, and quiet. Even the trees seems to be sleeping?.but wait! I almost forgot! If we had been on the other side of the forest, we might have heard groans and curses. Let's go to the other side, shall we?

The Protector - Chapter One (Peace) Migrate Wizard 2015-09-26 4 years 6 months ago

A shadowy figure rested easily in the perch of an old oak tree listening to the soft and fading winter wind as it rustled the leaves around him. Sethison held a special place in his heart for the forest edge of Silverwood along the banks of the river Rauvin. He was at peace with an evening such as this only a half-days travel away from his home in Silverymoon. It was here in the wilderness surrounding the river where he could still find peace from the everyday bustle. He gazed down on the pale reflections of Selune off the rivers casual drifting surface. Content to fight the chill and watch the beautiful moon rise high into the night, Seth leaned back against the trunk of the great oak finding solace in its strength. His thoughts drifted as he thanked this old companion for such a great view. As if in response, the winds swirled up through the large branches, sending subtle vibrations through the oak and into Seth's relaxed body. It was here that Sethison Alandar, not only enjoyed the tranquility of the world around him, but also accepted his first assignment as a Protector of Silverymoon and its surroundings. He could not think of a better place to be assigned patrols and for him, this night, it seemed more a privilege than an assignment. Seth relived the recent memory of his acceptance into Silverymoon's Protectors Guild, a proud day indeed, for him and his parents, when he completed his training and education at the University of Silverymoon. A wry smile crossed his lips as he recalled the embrace of his father seeing him off for his first month of duty.

Tales of A Planeswalker - The Walker (Chapter One) Migrate Wizard 2015-09-22 4 years 6 months ago

The wind had started as just a whisper, flowing in from the east to cool the scorched earth. Then it had become a bit stronger causing the leaves of the trees to sway. Now the wind was a roar, almost a living thing it seemed to the few that lived on the Alabaster plains. Huddled in their houses of wood and sod the villagers prayed to the god of the storms for relief but they found none as the wind continues to blow. Then as soon as it had begun the wind stopped.

Solid Tears Migrate Wizard 2015-10-16 4 years 6 months ago

We always say we are not allowed to put our feelings into one of our character. But we must admit, there are few who really succeed at making their characters completely uninfluenced. This is a poem I wrote during a period in which I had fights all the time with a special person of mine, and is why I would like to submit this poem.

I wrote the poem with the idea of what pain is really about. All adventurers that roam around Neverwinter, fighting their way out of those dark places, wounded heavily, deadly. And it is only later on when we actually experienced the feeling, and become more wiser, that we fully understand what it means when one says: Words are more painful than physic pain.

And with this poem I wanted to show the other part, the more feeling part of my character. Which I am sure every character has, next to the blood spilling there is also the love, we all know the existence of but have to discover in our own way.

Feel free to use it, or comment (constructive) on it. I would love to hear what such users as yourself feel and think while reading this, and your experience. Please vote aswell, so I could have a reflection of the users' opinion.

Yours sincerely,

Over My Head

What is Evil? Migrate Wizard 2015-11-11 4 years 6 months ago

The word 'evil' is a universally hated word. It speaks of things like the Nazis in World War 2, Terrorism, and the typical Orcs in a fantasy setting. People might know what Evil means, but do they understand it? With hoards of MMORPGs and RPGs being announced daily, players are striving for a good storyline or a good role-playing environment to play in. Unfortunately, they're those who believe evil is nothing more than Player-Killing new players in online gaming, or writers who can't come up with anything better than 'bad orcs' and cliché 'world domination' villains. Here, we will be discussing proper guidelines on creating Evil within your world, as I lead you through the process.

Rating System Editorials - Trimmed Mean Migrate Wizard 2015-11-11 4 years 6 months ago

Trimmed Average or Trimmed Mean:

(From my old Statistics book) : Trimmed Mean is a comprimise between (True) Average and Median.

While True Average uses all data points (votes on our case) to determine a representative value for the set of data, Median excludes all values but the 1 to 2 "middle" values and uses this value(s) to determine the representative value. Trimmed Average of a data set excludes the highest and lowest X% of the data points and takes the average of the remainder.

While we have many types of spotlights and entries that are requested by community members, these articles will be based solely by my feelings, observations, and slightly askew perspective. Because of this, take them at face value. Articles about Pale Masters are not slights against clerics or people who love to play them, they are merely articles about Pale Masters. Articles about NWN2 are not slights against NWN1, they are simply NWN2 articles.

Beta Be Prepared! Migrate Wizard 2015-11-09 4 years 6 months ago

Picture a scene familiar to many of us - several oddly-clad folk sitting around a table that's always too small, character sheets blanketing the surface, multi-colored polyhedron dice gleaming like gems abandoned by Snow White's septet of dwarves, all eagerly discussing the transformation of a beloved game into what promises to be one of the most amazing computer games ever created. We talk of the upcoming Beta and all hope to be included, but I am struck by the thought, "Are we really ready for Beta and all that it entails?"

If you're as much of a DnD junkie as my gaming cohorts and I are, your immediate response is an emphatic affirmative. Let's consider, just for a moment, all that the Beta test will require of those lucky enough to be selected by the BioWare crew.

Dear Strumpet - Barbarian Thong Migrate Wizard 2015-11-09 4 years 7 months ago

Dear Strumpet,

For the last five years I’ve been traveling throughout the countryside plying my trade as an adventurer. I’m a barbarian by birth, but my mother always encouraged me to expand my horizons so whenever possible I’ve taken the time to educate myself with reading or conversing with the local bard on ancient lore. Now I’m used to adversity, as a female warrior I am accustomed to the uphill battle in making a name for myself and earning respect. As time went on however, I eventually got some regular work defending small villages from marauders and thwarting an evil warlord or too.

It all started from reading a post and misunderstanding the content therein. Tarashon, lead builder & DM for the PW ALANGARA gave life to an idea by building a theater where plays can be performed and placing it in the PW. Now this is not any normal theater, oh no, this is an amazing theater that goes by the name of 'The Masquerade Theater'. Excited at the prospect that players could actually host plays, and also have control over the stage, change costumes (appearance by way of some magical scripting) I arranged to jump in game and take a look at what he had created.
