From the developers of acclaimed adventure Darkness Over Daggerford, Ossian Studios, comes a new premium module for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition --> Tyrants of the Moonsea (Steam) (GOG)

Based on the original module by Luke Scull, this new, enhanced version of Tyrants of the Moonsea vastly expands this former premium module by adding 70% more story and gameplay, as well as a a large amount of new art and audio content. Read on for details!

STORY

The harsh frontier land known as the Moonsea is besieged by demons. A mysterious cult has arisen, bent on death and destruction. Amid the chaos, war is imminent between the powerful city-states and their tyrannical rulers.

Accompanied by the dwarf merchant Madoc, you approach the town of Voonlar just as the worst snowstorm of the year hits. You soon discover that only you can prevent the total annihilation of the Moonsea at the hands of a legendary and ancient evil...

Yes it is. It is completed, where as the original by Alazandar was left incomplete.

I wonder whether one should play AL 1-2 modules before tackling the now-premium AL3? I hope Luke is watching this page :)

I just did, and I would say the connection between the modules is like the one between SoU and HotU, or NWN2 and Mask of the Betrayer, or maybe even less so. There are some short allusions in AL2 to the events of AL1 and I think it is assumed you're using the same character, but the stories are completely independent of each other. In fact, AL2 actually made more references to Baldur's Gate 2 than to AL1, since it's partially taking place in Suldanessalar. I would assume that it's the same with AL3; independent story, but you can import your character from AL2, and maybe a few lines in the dialogues will refer to the plot of AL1 and/or AL2, but it's absolutely not necessary to play them in order to understand and enjoy AL3. (I don't remember much about AL3, but I actually played the free version back in the days without playing AL1 and AL2 first).

That being said, AL1 and AL2 are definitely worth playing! I wonder though whether imported characters from AL2 will be a bit overpowered, with all the high magic items they bring.

Oliver, did you happen to play AL1 and AL2 on the Enhanced Edition of NWN? Did they work alright?

Frankly, as excited as I am to hear about the new Tyrants of the Moonsea (and kudos to Alazander!), I'm rather disappointed that this seems to be a Steam-only release for now and that there is absolutely zero information about a release date on Beamdog's own website or GOG. The apparent prioritizing of one platform over the others would be bad enough already if the publishers were upfront about it, but this complete radio silence and lack of information about the reasons or possible release dates on Beamdog and GOG is even worse and kind of worrying. It's one thing if the main game is only available at certain stores, but each store already selling it should be treated equally when it comes to updates or new content like this, and if it isn't, owners of the game on others stores deserve to know why they're getting the short end of the stick and when that will be rectified. NWN used to be about a sharing community, not about marketing/store politics splitting the userbase.

It’s actually really nice with tons of new content after the known part.Experienced players should NOT start with a level 15 char though.More like 12, maybe even lower.

Anyone knows if an imported character from 1.69 works fine into EE? 

I'd like to play AL1 and AL2 with 1.69 and then use the exported character in this new version of AL3 under the EE but I am not sure if this will be the best course of action...

In general, that works fine, so it ought to be a good route into AL3.

That's exactly what I did, and it worked fine.

As a sidenote, I only just started Tyrants of the Moonsea, but I have a feeling my character from AL2 is a bit overpowered for it. She's only lvl 14, not 15, but all the equipment I brought in (you're not stripped of it) makes her a lot more powerful than a fresh character leveled up to 15 would have been (you get a +3 weapon if you start fresh and 10k, but my character already has 600k, +5 weapon and boots of speed among many others things ... XD ).

It's probably more a lot than a little. On the Steam forums someone warned that the module was super difficult. So far, my AL2 PC can't confirm that at all. :D I usually don't mind the game being a little easier either, but I'm considering to put the game on the highest difficulty level now so that there's a least *some* minor risk involved in battles. I also buy everything nice I see in stores and I can't find enough nice things to buy anymore, lol.

So, the best thing to do should be to underlevel the equipment at the beginning of the module, maybe also drop the majority of the money and then to continue playing, but from a logical point of view why would my character do something like that? So, no, it's either play god mode or start a new character. I think I'll decide when I'll get there.
